The First Minors are finally over.. Its really unbelievable how 3 days and 3 nights of intense cramming can traumatize you for weeks. It really is. I don't want to go anywhere near my college for atleast ten days or so. But I'll have to. And I have ten reasons why I'm being forced to attend college from tomorrow itself : a-t-t-e-n-d-a-n-c-e.
My final attendance usually hovers around the 70% mark.. But at one or more points in between the semester, my attendance drops to around 58-60% and then I'm forced to come and sit through all the lectures in the college while my other pals are absent, probably enjoying their 70%+ attendance with movies..
So, I have decided that I'll devise a way to keep an eye on my attendance.. And its going to be something digital cause I tried it out on paper and it doesn't work.
So.. let me analyze all the options I've got:
(1) I could use Evernote but the interface is really not suited to take attendance as input and I'd have to do all the Math myself..
(2) Notepad could work.. but there's the problem of the Math and its kind of boring.
(3) Google Docs.. the spreadsheet program of Google Docs seems like a good idea to me.. Plus all of my attendance data would be on the Cloud so I could check or modify it from any machine..
(4) I can write a program in C.. but I'll have to learn 'File Management' ..
(5) I could use HTML to create all the forms and buttons and stuff but I'm gonna need some knowledge of PHP, SQL etc. if I want to make those buttons actually useful..
So.. these are some of the things I've got in mind... Well.. lets see how that pans out over the next couple of weeks..
Another idea that I think is pretty neat is called (temporarily) 'Copocollege'.Its kind of a mashup between 'Co-operation' and 'College'..
We've all experienced times when we didn't have those notes on which the examination next day was going to be based upon.. This is where this idea comes in.

What Copocollege will be is a site where (registered?) users will be able to download important notes, presentations, documents, images related to undergraduate studies in Computer Science and Engineering (and perhaps more subjects later on..).. Right now, I'm not totally clear as to how I'm gonna pull this off.. but I want this site to utilize Twitter in some way or the other... And I also want the site to be very 'ajaxy'.. Ultimately I want to develop this site into a kind of 'App Store' for engineering study material...
Sure, I understand that there are a lot of sites that do the exact same thing as what I intend to do with Copocollege.. but they're all littered with ads and you know, aren't all that 'polished'.. they lack the 'finesse' which could attract customers to them.. they're kind of pages built to be viewed only a few times in an year...
I want to change all that. I want news and a certain degree of professionalism in Copocollege.. I don't want it to be someone's blog where ads have been posted in every free space imaginable so that the owner could earn a few cents per week...
Lets see what happens.
