A few weeks ago, when there was still some time before the semester started, I created this blog.. But the problem was that I wasn't satisfied with the themes made available to me by Blogger.. The only way I could customize the look and feel of my blog was by editing the HTML code, by tinkering with CSS and stuff.. But I had absolutely no clue where to start.
The very next day itself, I bought myself a copy of 'Head First HTML with CSS and XHTML' by Elisabeth Freeman and Eric Freeman..

I saw this on the first page and instantly knew that this was the book for me:
Wouldn't it be dreamy if there was an HTML book that didn't assume you knew what elements, attributes, validation, selectors, and pseudo-classes were, all by page three? This is probably the best introductory text on HTML out there.. Its engaging, easy on the eyes and comprehensive enough to cover almost all the topics..
For more details, visit the publisher's site or Amazon..
Now, don't let the uber-simple look of this page fool you.. I am extremely fond of minimalist designs.. After reading this book, I made a few subtle changes to this page.. I bet you didn't notice the very light shade of gray that makes the background of the text in the left sidebar..
Plus, the text notification above (below the header image) that disappears when one clicks on 'Hide'.. Thats a cute little effect made possible by jQuery.. True, its nothing...uh.. astonishing.. But I'm getting there...
